I do prefer to work on rather big sculptures...
... and I am often limided by the dimension of the kilns that I can use.
However, I keep in mind the concern of the space necessary to host and appreciate a voluminous sculpture.
Serge - thoughtful : 98 cm high, need som place to fell at ease.
The idea behind mural sculpture comes at first from this concern : having a big sculpture in a limited living area might be tricky.
But this approach also allows new liberty about lightness and proportions.
Summer sun (Soleil d'été) - 120 cm high, only needs 32 cm free space from the wall, and can find it's place easily even in a modes interior.
It is also difficult to imagine doing such proportion in direct vertical sculpture.
